Alanis Nadine was born in Ottawa, Canada, on June 1st 1974. Alanis' Greek name is a feminine version of her father's last name, Alan. Her mother's name's Georgia and there are two brothers named Chad as well as Wade (Alanis"Twin"). She was able to play piano when she was just 6 and the guitar at the age of 21. Alanis released a single in 1986 called Fate Stay with me (b part: Find The Right Man). In Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums, Alanis (in 1991) and Now Is The Time in 1992. Her move to Toronto in the year 18 and began working with music and writers, but these collaborations did not work. In 1994, she discovered the perfect partner in music producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had previously worked with a variety of performers, including Aretha Franklin Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. After moving to LA, she turned 19. In June of 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was made available by Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis came up with a method for making songs that are completely personal to her and based on her own life experiences. JLP is the third highest-selling album in the history of music and was sold over more than 30 million times around world.
